Vestibular Dysfunction
Vestibular dysfunction is an impairment in the function of the vestibular system. The vestibular system is an inner ear organ that provides information to corresponding vestibular areas in your brain about:
• The head’s position relative to gravity
• Whether your head is moving
• The direction your head is moving
With this information, your brain is able to coordinate eye movements to be able to focus on images and reading when your head/body is moving, and control your body’s balance.
Vestibular dysfunction can manifest with the following symptoms:
• Dizziness
• Vertigo
• Imbalance
• Blurry vision
• Motion intolerance
• Nausea
• Vomiting
• Ringing in the ear
• Hearing Loss
